the concept

Masamba’s objective is to offer consumers fresh, healthy fruits, picked at maturity.

To give the general public a taste for good, a taste for fresh, we must give them back the desire and the pleasure of consuming fruit and tasty juices.

To guarantee attractive prices, large retailers rely on quantity: they order whole pallets to put on the stalls.

To guarantee the quality of his products, the local market gardener relies on a careful selection of his suppliers: he will visit all his producers one by one to check that they meet his requirements.

At Masamba, we have managed to combine the two, to guarantee you exceptional products at the best price.

We pool orders from all over France to reduce costs, while ensuring product quality directly from arboriculturists.

our varieties

At Masamba, the majority of our citrus fruits are organic products. Be careful, however, not to blindly trust the labels! We believe that trust has to be earned: for that, here is a little focus on our productions.

In reality, there are two types of so-called “organic” orchards:

1.

A conventional orchard that has “simply” been converted to organic by replacing conventional phytosanitary products with organic phytosanitary products. In this case, neither the soil nor the environment were taken into account.

The vast majority of “organic” labelled products currently on the market, particularly in mass distribution, come from such orchards.

2.

An orchard that has been « thought organic » since its creation, by recreating a favourable ecosystem that will make it possible to do without phytosanitary products by encouraging alternative methods (biocontrol, for example, by releasing ladybirds in a field to hunt aphids).

There are still very few orchards of this nature, but these are the ones that Masamba tries to choose as much as possible.

Our production is thought out to be able to be continuous from October to May in clementines, and from November to July in oranges, juggling between the different varieties, from very early to particularly late.

Lemons will also be available around the same time, while the grapefruits and persimmons availability will be shorter. Each fruit has its date of optimal maturity – we will only provide you with our citrus fruits at their best!

quality and freshness

Masamba only selects products of excellence. All lovers of fresh produce will tell you: not all fruits are created equal. To offer you only the best, the Masamba criteria are as follows:

Very few people know that there are several varieties of clementines, oranges, lemons, or grapefruits. Their characteristics are different: they lie particularly in the taste, the ease of peeling, and the juice content.

Their seasonality also varies; by juggling between the varieties, Masamba offers you citrus fruits that are + fresh, + long, + often.

Three major production areas are essential in Spain: the region of Valencia and the south of Andalusia for oranges and clementines, the region of Murcia for lemons.

We choose only the varieties best suited to their areas of origin. This is the example of our clementines, which grow north of Valencia, and our oranges, south of Valencia.

In these regions, our citrus fruits know only beautiful things: a bright sun, a soil rich in nutrients, and above all an organic culture, devoid of chemical treatments after harvest. At Masamba, we are convinced that a glass of orange juice should allow you to hear the insects, to smell the flowers, to imagine the birds as if you were there.

Harvesting at the point of optimum maturity is a fundamental point, for the taste, but also for the juice content. This last criterion is very important when it comes to oranges, lemons or grapefruits made for juice.

The vitamins and microelements contained in the juices are then at their maximum: it is the ideal time to consume them and fill up on good things!

How does it work?

Fruits are living products: it is essential that they are selected with care, treated with delicacy, and that they arrive as soon as possible on the table of the final consumer.

The pallets that we send can be designed by mixing several fruits (clementines, lemons, grapefruits, oranges, etc.) when all the references are available, which allows smaller quantities of each reference, and therefore more regular shipments to guarantee the fruits’ freshness.

Our quality manager visits the most promising producers every year to ensure that their products meet the strict criteria that we apply at Masamba: taste and freshness.

The fruits are packed on the day of harvest, and will not be handled or touched until they’ve reached the consumer’s table.

Masamba’s citrus fruits are packaged in wooden packages in “consumer units”: these are small packages of around 2 kg for clementines and table oranges (6 fruits), and 5 kg for juice oranges.

All these parcels are stacked on top of each other until they form a beautiful pallet: we thus reduce our transport costs, which allows us to lower our prices.

The + Masamba? Our fruits stay in great shape thanks to their wooden boxes, which keep them intact during the whole journey.

The delivery takes place in a group collection point (your market gardener, a coffee shop near you, etc.), to reduce our costs and therefore our prices. Because of this, a presale system is set up before each delivery.

The fruits arrive on your plate with a maximum delay of 3 days after picking.

who are we?

I founded Masamba with one idea in mind: to transform the way people eat fruit. My plan is to give consumers the opportunity to easily obtain exceptional products that are served at the best restaurants and the largest hotels.

For that, there’s no need to pay a fortune to eat a single orange: you just must know which door to knock on. That is my job: finding the talents of our terroirs, the arboriculturists who love and work the land for beautiful organic products.

I commit myself daily to four things: taste, freshness, nutrition and purchasing power. Values that push me to want to offer the best at the top price, for happy and healthy consumers, thanks to delicious fruits full of vitamins!

This is what drives me every day, this is what drives Masamba!
